Gasket and junctions

• Compressibility:
  • Malleability, without deformation.
  • Ability to cover all the sealing surface.
  • Immutable resistance ability.
• Pliability: once compressed, it should expand in order to completely cover the lights.
• Resilience:
  • Ability to fulfil their task in a changing working environment, to resist to high temperatures and under pressure liquids
  • Ability to return to the original condition (e.g.: contraction and expansion of red-hot metals).
• Expansion: according to the different cases, it is required expansion to absorb liquids, or resistance without expansion (if you are dealing with controlled expansion gaskets).
• Flexibility: adaptability to the tightening application (e.g.: supporting sump gaskets have to resist to loads stress between engine and sump, as the last moves together with the chassis it is bounded to).

• Resist to:
  • Extreme temperature conditions (water, antifreeze, up to 130° C; emission fumes, up to 750° C; environment , up to –40°C).
  • Gas Pressure condition up to 160 bar
  • Manage relative dynamic movement (e.g. between exhaust manifold and cylinder head)
  • Allow easy removals, not being damaged.

• Decrease in engine performance
• Expensive reparations
• Engine stalls
• Water leaks (caused by the low-standard deformed materials, causing damages to head cylinders and piston jam and ect…)
• Gasket damages (caused by particles getting into the engine)
• Loss of power and damage of turbojet compressor
• Engine overheating, irregular emissions, fuel use increase
• Oil loss polluting working area (wrong junctions or assembly)
